Gothic Music Today is not what it used to be.
In my baby bat days Type-O Negative, Korn, and Evanescence were my life source. Whenever I left the house, entered a room or simply just started moving, my theme song was usually one of the three artists.
In my opinion, gothic music has dumbed down to synth and electronica. In most cases, it lacks musical structure and creativity. Where is the strong voice, meaningful lyrics and catchy placement?!
The Gothic Style has not died, we are still going strong! So, where is our music? Have we migrated toward mainstream or settled for less? Is this a phase that we must suffer through? Will there ever be anymore great gothic bands?
It's not Gothic music that has dropped, but all music and genres. It's as if talent has nothing to do with music anymore. In this new era of music, it does not take a whole lot to be Number One in the Nation and the radio stations insist on playing the same junk excessively. Let me say this with all due respect, a voice tires from singing, fingers tire from strumming, but a computer does not tire at all. The point of music is creativity, beauty, and meaning. Music is our escape from this hectic reality! Without something good to escape to, we have no outlet. I think dubstep is a creative form of noise, and some artists have executed there point very well. The unfortunate thing about dubstep, everyone is doing it so it is all sounding the same. We would be OK if dubstep was only a genre of its own, but it has infected all of todays music, the fact of the matter is "We will run out of ideas, very quickly".
We have shoved ourselves into a corner with music! As of right now, we are entering into a limbo in every style of every category. We have very few options left. My Question is; What's Next?
Old school, here are some of my favorite artists:
Evanescence-Call me when you're sober
A little fact, Some times Independent bands make THE Best Music. Mainstream has these idiots that push the same crap.
That reminds me, check out what Amy Lee said, She knows what she's talking about when it comes to music!
Amy Lee: "Too many people are rushing and scrambling and losing money and being forced by their label to make stuff way too fast"
