I Almost Shit My Pants!

Luckily...I made it home in time.

On the same subject, I have a story I would like to tell you via video, I just need to clean the rest of the mess I made yesterday. By the way, it should never take 2 human beings OVER 24 hours to clean a tiny room! But it did and that really worries me.

I'm going to get some of that yummy coffee I made and work on that...

If you haven't already subscribed to my youtube channel yet, please check me out! There are silly videos and diy videos all for you, just waiting to be seen by your eyeballs.

Why I Am Goth

As humans, our brains categorize everything we see. This is extremely important to survival of all standards.
Now that we don't have to survive in the wild as we used to, our brains still function on that level to ensure well being, its just on a different level. That level being social.
I call myself a "Goth" because that tends to be the most popular category I fall in, even in my own brain. Mind you, I hate social gatherings related to topics that I do not fancy. Its more of a chore to go out and stand awkwardly among the general public. I guess you can say that I am a typical goth, at heart. I'll be 23 in march...I've never thrown a party, let alone attended one, thats just me and always has been.

Do you do it for the fashion?

Yes and no. I am absolutely in love with the fashion of traditional goth and victorian. I dress like a bum/bubble goth...a bumbubble goth! I like that. But, when I first noticed "the change", it wasn't very dramatic because I've always worn things out of the norm. I think I was 13 when I dyed my hair black and I kept it black until I was 19 years old. During that period, the black hair and dark, baggy clothing was a warning sign to "Stay away" as Morgue recently stated. I rejected the world as a whole. I hated everyone, especially while I was a sensitive. I say that loosely, mostly due to the fact that most people who are born a sensitive, die a sensitive. I am currently living within my internal walls, not allowing as much outside energy to infect me. I am living in a state of insanity/denial due to my own life choices, I cannot afford to be extremely perceptive. My hair is red, as to mourn the death of my old self, the blood of the old me still lingers only as a memory, nothing more. I wear what makes me feel good, that makes a statement that I care about. The shirt I am wearing right this second says "If you can't be a unicorn, be a mermaid". To me, that means, "If you don't want to conform, then don't, be something else". Too many people in this world want to be unique, but it is so hard to achieve individuality when there is always someone leading a pack. Whether you realize it or not, you are either following or leading. There is no true individuality. We can only try our best to stand apart from the rest, right?
15 years old (note the fashion pictures on the wall, lol)

I thought goths were mopey and depressed/depressing!

And some may be, but we all have it in us to be that "emo kid" crying over spilt milk. Everyone has their moments, and those moments may be extended periods of time, creating a "mopey" image for themselves. But, there are some goths who have more fun than blondes! Goths that are more successful than some preps, happier than a hippies.
13 years old (trying to look "cute" as a smart ass)

Have you ever been discriminated against for being goth?

As an adult, a few times. As a teen, way too many times!
When I was 14, I started at a new school that had 2 emo kids out of hundreds of "normal" kids or "preps". The female gym teacher stopped me before I entered the locker room and said "Does your mom let you do your hair like that?" I laughed and said "Yeah! She helped me!". The teacher had a disgusted look smear across her face and said "I'd NEVER let my daughter leave the house looking like THAT!" I stared at her for a second, I responded "Thats too bad. Sucks to be her." Then the bullying really got out of hand and I was expelled from that school because a whole band of preps told the principle that I "threatened to bomb the school". Which, of course, was not true in any way shape and form. But, that was my last day there and I waved everyone the bird as I walked out the doors.
I do recall one of the kids that "told on me" was the same ass that asked me on my first day "Are you emuuu?" HAHAA! I said "Its 'emo' and no."
If you are an adult, why do you still consider yourself "goth"?
I love feeling comfortable in my own skin, no one can take that away from me, especially now that I am a grown woman. I still love the style, I still love the message it sends to any outsider. I've said this so many times, but I'd love to say it again. When there is another human being that is confident enough to talk to me while I look the way I do, that person has now opened a door in their mind and in my heart. I automatically develop respect for someone who can outwardly accept me as I am. The reason that I am "Still Goth" is the same it always has been.

Sorry if this was too serious compared to my usual posts, its just been weighing on my mind a bit. There are other things that are much more stressful that have me distracted well beyond the usual, but this helps. A stream of consciousness.
Thank you so much for reading. I want to get some videos going now that my sick is gone. Let me know in the comments what's on your mind. I love hearing from anyone!

GIRL, THATS GHETTO!!

No video today…I am mad at myself. BUUT!! I do, however, have an excuse!

I spent my ENTIRE day working on a project that my female viewers can relate/laugh/question and of course, yell at me for! lol

I took some old kk hair that I knew I'd never use, duct taped it together and used the sewing machine to sew wefts.

WHAT COLOR DOES THIS LOOK LIKE TO YOU?!

It was the most ghetto thing I've done in a LONG time! Even though it worked out perfectly and I got the clips on 'em AND re-dyed my hair…it still doesn't match. So, I pretty much wasted my whole day on something borderline useless. Story of my life!

 Moving on:

We are still doing the video, it will be filmed and edited tomorrow. It will be later in the day before we get it up on youtube, but I swear this one will make it worth the wait. Plus, we have like 3 skits to work on and a busy week ahead, we'll see how this goes.

We are saving up for a nicer camera, the camera that I've wanted for a long time now. Lucky for us, its price was almost cut in half. I'm really hoping my check next friday is better than the last, I was in tears about how small it was. If that is what I have to look forward to, I'm gonna need to rethink my priorities when it comes to my "free time"!

Oh, what I would give to be a successful woman! What person ever dreams about sitting behind a desk with a boss breathing down their neck?! Or, calling random people to sell them junk? I've tried retail, can't do it, honey. I've seen enough of this place to know that I need to work for myself and for my people!

Let me know what's been up with you, I love hearing from my lovelies!!

Pay No Mind To The Pain

I have been given THE BEST present of all time…

My mom fronted the money for my dentist bill!

It means the world to me to have that front tooth fixed, you don't even know!

I went around, for over a year, with this hole in my smile. Financial struggle and lack of insurance made it impossible for me to make it to the dentist. For Dr. B to squeeze me in before the holiday and reconstructing my front tooth from almost nothing and my mother for throwing down almost $100 when she was having to decide between food or presents…

Yeah, I'm blessed!

The comical part never made me laugh, but that tooth always looked like I had pepper in my teeth. But, as it got worse, it looked more like I had been smoking crack. My dentist even asked me if I did meth or something! No, I've never tried hard drugs…ever! I'm a smoker addicted to coffee, I take antacids for my acidic stomach and I inherited soft teeth from both sides of my family. Plus, if I did hard drugs, I'd be skinny as a rail. Haha. yep, anywho.

Even though things are not going as planned, I can at least smile without covering my mouth. I can laugh aloud without being self conscious and I can feel better knowing that I have one less thing to worry about  :-D

My mouth is screaming right now, due to the extreme drilling doc had to do, but I can't even give a damn, I feel so much better :)

I had made a video about a month ago, I noticed my effing tooth in the video and just deleted it. I avoided putting on makeup, mostly because I thought it was pointless to try to look pretty when I can't even smile.

This is the best present ever! Thank you momma <3

About That Tutorial

I filmed the mini hat tutorial….but I hated it!
It seemed like I rushed through it, the material looked awful…I would never wear it!

But, things are starting to straighten out, so hopefully I will have enough money to put more effort towards my videos and crafts and things!

I am currently playing with shrinky dinks, and listening to "Punk goes Christmas" on spotify. I don't know what I'm doing with my life right now, I'm kind of lost today. Its almost like I don't know how to be me, its weird.

In other news, I'd love to put cool things up in my store, so get this:

+ I have a T-shirt press (my uncle shares with me)
      - I don't have the money for the paper or ink
+ I own 2 different sewing machines
-Not enough material to sew anything
+ A bunch of acrylic paint
- Nothing to paint

See the issue? HAHA its so ridiculous.
You know what I've been doing for the past few weeks? Trying to keep the house clean, a fucking impossible task!! Every time I turn around, its messed up somehow…I'll spare you the details.

So, I am sitting with grams, I don't know how to entertain her because she hates me right now, any noise I make she yells at me LOL. Its funny, but I really don't wanna keep her pissed off all day. Its after 1pm and my man is still in bed…MY LIFE RIGHT NOW, THO!!!!!!!

IF ONLY I HAD FRIENDS!!!!!!!
I HAVE NO FRIENDS….even if I did, I'm sure none of them would be patient with my obligations and what not.

Just wanted to let ya know whats up, and say HI!!

 Sorry I suck.

Are Mini Hats Cool?

There was a point in my late babybat days when all I wanted was victorian themed everything!

I wanted the velvets and the canopy bed, the poofy dresses and chamber pots…well, not so much the chamber pots, I enjoy my modern plumbing! But the cute little hats and big hair was very attractive to me, it was all I could think about…

I made my own little hats and I was so proud of them! The fact that I loved them, I thought everyone else did too…

I made so many, these aren't even half of them…

But, to my shock and disappointment, no one else had much interest in them. A few friends would wear them to make me happy, carebear loved everything I made. So, just the two of us would parade around in my little top hats.

I had given up on them for a while…4 years+

But, this past halloween, I wanted my top hat with my outfit…I didn't have time to put the clips on it. However, it did inspire me to show everyone else how I make mine.

VIDEO COMING SOON!!!

My Top Ten Must Haves *Goth DIY* + Examples

Instead of spending your life savings on a few articles of clothing, invest in materials!!

If you step back and look at the amount that you spend on materials, you might say "Well, I could've just bought that outfit already." But, if you are like me, I don't want what is available to everyone else. I love unique and individualized things, so I invest in my materials. In the long run, its worth it, here are some of my personal tips:

  1. Thrifting (it saves lives) You can find blank canvases while thrifting!
  2. Acrylic paints! Painting on your own clothing is cheaper than paying a company that prints the same T for millions of other consumers.
  3. Cheap Materials. Your local super market or fabric stores will have some really cheap fabric, I always go for stretchy, that way when your measurements are off, its not that big of a deal. Also, look for really thin, sheer material, this will come in handy if you want to make your own screen for screen printing!
  4. WOOD GLUE! Its always handy and a perfect glue for screens (screen printing)
  5. SALES!! At your crafty stores, always look at the clearance sections!
  6. Know your brands! At Hobby Lobby, I always have a specific brand I stick to, because I know how well the quality is for the price.
  7. Bring a friend. Friends can help you sweep the stores and help find what you are looking for faster.
  8. Food coloring (kool-aid)! Its cheap and always handy!
  9. Poster board/Cardboard. For anything and everything
  10. Sharp Utensils!! Exacto knives are preferred due to their precision, but a box cutter works too.

Things you can do if you already have these things:

Acrylic paints allow you to paint your own Coffins!

Sheer Material=SCREEN PRINTING DIY!!! (thats an embroidery ring holding the screen)

Thrift material and Cardboard, DIY Mini hat!

Poster board and Cardboard+Sharp Utensil=Awesome project time!!

Kool-aid or other inexpensive dyes can dye your Wool/Human hair weave/Clothing etc.

I hope this was helpful and inspiring!! Follow my Youtube channel for video tutorials, random acts of craaaaaayyyyy and funny vlog stuff <3

Purple Hair Update!

Due to personal crap, I haven't posted a whole lot any where lately. I think its easier to whine about my shit than it is to post helpful or interesting stuff, I'm not sure if that makes me selfish or self-centered, either way, my apologies.

*sigh* OK, my hair story, haha.

To pick up where we left off…THE MESS I MADE!

Just messy!
Then a few days after the color had time to fade a bit…

As you can see, my bottom layer is very dark, it still looks almost black.

Now to compare:

BEFORE

 AFTER

HOMEMADE PURPLE DYE FTW!!! I love it, I'm just excited to lighten it a bit so it blinds everyone with its purple glory :)

Until next time, stay cray cray!!

My Recent Hair Journey

Recently, I had talked about going back to purple….

The steps I took:

  1.  Bleach bath (30 vol developer) half bleach, half shampoo
  2. 3/4 just bleach (30 vol)
  3. One week later, another 3/4 just bleach (30 vol)
  4. A few days later, a full head bleach(30 vol)
  5. Again, full head bleach(30 vol)
  6. All of my hair being orange now, I tried Color Jamz purple and pink mix….
Summed up in 13 seconds:

It DID NOT turn out how I wanted!!!

I told myself that I should have used manic panic BECAUSE, it sticks to darker blonde and orange WAAAY better than color jamz :'(

But, now….I have to find a magical way to pull money out of my ass….meaning I have to find a crappy minimum wage job until school starts.
Though, my life seems to be sharting on me once more, I must take it for what it is and not complain.

If you are trying to get away from black dyed hair, I'm so sorry to inform you….You MUST bleach it. I've tried EVERYTHING ELSE! And bleaching is the most efficient and fast way to do so.

ALWAYS deeeeep condition! Let your hair rest between bleaches and good luck. Hope you enjoyed either way :)

DIY Tools and Necessities

Whenever the moment arises that you just HAVE to make something, its always best to be prepared. Here are a few of my favorite and very necessary tools:

#1. Scissors
(duh, right?!)
My lovely family always misplace my craft scissors. So, I have a special pair for them and for myself. Keep them in a hidden but unforgettable place!

#2. Exacto knives
(Great for those detailed cut outs)
Buying exacto knives can be a pain, but they last a life time! I've used them for things they probably shouldn't be used for and they still work wonders.

#3. Duct Tape
(Not exclusive for redneck projects)
So many of my projects include duct tape, its ridiculous. I freak out when I don't have my duct tape!

#4. Glue
Us DIYers always need our glues! Fabric glue, hot glue, elmer's glue…all glue is needed glue.

#5. Paint and paint brushes
Paint is always nice to have on hand. Acrylic paint is cheap, handy, and easily accessible. You can get the little bottles at walmart :)
Paint brushes of all kinds! I cannot paint to save my life, but my poor attempts are glorified by the brushes I use.

These 5 things are what make my little crafty heart thrive! Without them, I am useless.

I have been editing a craft video thats almost a year old (hehe) so, hopefully I can get that posted to my youtube AND my blog.

If you ever want to contact me, feel free to comment below! I love you, be safe, craft carefully and keep an eye out for more tutorials.

Yay! 1,000 views!

I'm delighted to announce my celebration of 1,000 views on my gothic blog!!!

Any suggestions, Please comment below and let me know what you are picturing!

The only thing I miss about B.C. is the industrial areas. I used to hope and pray that we wouldn't get shot. Ha, seriously though!

To wig, or Not to wig...

That is a question for us Goth Folk!

Wigs come in many quality categories, but the most popular is usually the least expensive and the most itchy!

I have a lot of hair, so its hard for me to wear hair pieces that require snug fitting. I do, however, love clip-in/tie-in  pieces! I've made a handful of pretty colored head things.

Being a diy-er and a goth at heart, it is no surprise that I've looked like this:

...or this....

(((So, I guess hair pieces have always been "my thing". I remember how excited I was when I made all of these. Every piece has a story, but shockingly, I no longer own any of them, now! I am an artist, I can make some similar, but I could never ever clone any of these pieces! I've tried)))

Now, Some of us do not like hair pieces, but some of us have gone out of our way to purchase or create some kind of extravagant creation to wear! Here it is again, To wig or not to wig?

What are the pros and cons of wearing hair gear of every category?

Does it not always come back down to the price? When I originally made either of these pieces, I did it to:
  1. Save money
  2. Be original
  3. Create for others
  4. Artistically express myself through my appearance.

None of this was cheap! Even buying the cheapest materials, It ended costing a few hundred dollars altogether due to the learning process. When I started, there were 2 tutorials on youtube and only a few pictures...I learned the hard way. It was a fun, yet, a frustrating process, but I would not trade those experiences for the world! Now that I know how to do these things, I want to share with everyone else who is interested, I want to be the one that starts a 16 year old girl on her dread making, or clip-ins selling extravaganza!! I want my people to join me in creating and DIY-ing! I want us to come together and share our knowledge and our methods of madness!!

WHOSE WITH ME?!!

Let me know in the comments below!

To Cheer Us Up

Lately i've noticed a few things about myself:

  • I've ben a bit stir crazy due to the fact that I do not have a driver's license even though I'm 21
  • My interest in my own life keeps taking sudden nose dives without warning
  • I'm not taking the steps to fix any of my problems
  • I have been literally avoiding myself
This is somewhat of a personal subject, but I need to address this in the only way I know how, by burying myself in knowledge and information, class and talent of other people, beauty and bizarre.

When I'm feeling down, or bummed, I love watching videos of confident people. I love finding out more about this person, internet famous, Hollywood famous, or not any kind of famous. My findings lately have been kind of small. Could it be that your either are or you're not?! hmm, well, I know how hard it is just being a person. A person trying to make ends meet, to find somewhere we belong, but this is getting a bit off topic, here are some of my favorite people:

I've been following the shaytards for 4 years. They are a beautiful example of an all American family with loving parents, wonderful children and real lives with real problems and lots of patience!
Watching their videos ALWAYS cheer me up, their videos also provide positive insight and mindset.

ah, we love jennamarbles, ah

Adora has been a wonderful role model for young baby bats and adult goths of all sorts.

These crazy people always cheer me up ^.^

I think I might try vlogging again...But I love text sooo much more!! If anyone could give me some advice on video editing programs for an old mac, it would be very much appreciated!

zaney bat in the flessshhhh

This was me today, feeling very accomplished and happy. This is me on a daily basis. I hardly ever wear makeup at home, so I has a nakie face ;p

P.S. you can see my blog in the background! hehe ^.^

Recycling Accessories-Goth DIY-Studs

Got an old studded belt that fell apart and is no longer functional?

I got just the thing!

You will need one of these:
  • needle nose pliers
  • hemostats
  • butter knife
Depending on which of these tools you have will greatly impact the outcome. In this case, I have needle nose pliers:

Now, get to the back side of the studs and pry the claws upward and try not to let it bend out of shape too much.

Just pop it off and set aside.

Now decide what article of clothing or accessory you want to relocate the studs to. Now would be a great time to have pliers.

Just press the stud into the fabric until it penetrates through to the other side.

Using Pliers or crimping tool of some kind, bend the claws down inward and now you have a great start to a new project.

Recycled studs can go a long way. Be as creative as possible and really enjoy this project!

If this version was not sufficient enough, and you would like to see this tutorial in video form, Please comment on this post and let me know. Any questions or suggestions are always welcome.

~Love Zaney~
